PETS CORNER
We have quite a few animals that live with us.
 |
Catkin is our ginger cat, he is not a very friendly cat as he scratches with very sharp claws and he is always hungry.
He lives outside. But he can be nice sometimes. We hardly ever see mice because Catkin chases them away. |
Mum keeps chickens and we eat their eggs. James has a "Golden Brahma" cockrel (Kentucky), Mair has a "Golden Brahma" hen
(Pinata), Jasmine has black hen "blackie" and Suki has "Snowflake" a Sussex hybrid.
A couple of our hens lay blue eggs. When we take them in for cooking their shells are very hard to crack. Whenever I
try to crack an egg pieces always fall into the mixture. Some eggs are quite soft and you can usually crack them with one or
two blows on the side of the bowl. You can make loads of meals and puddings like pavlova and pancakes. |

Fluffy is Suki's rabbit: She is cute and has a nice fluffy tail. I like her because she has brown eyes like mum, she
sometimes scratches. She has a pink nose. |
Bracken is Mair's Shetland Pony and he lives in the big field. We have to tether him or he would get really fat on all
the grass
Bracken is a cheeky pony. I used to ride him a lot but he is a bit small now. I like to brush him. I use different types of
brushes on him. They are called curry comb, dandy brush, and soft brush. There are other types of brushes. Bracken has a
flaxen mane and tail, his coat is a lovely chestnut colour. In the winter he grows a long coat to keep him warm and in the
summer he sheds his coat for a short shiny one. |

Biscuit is Jasmine's Guinea Pig. Biscuit eats a lot. She is called biscuit because she has a light brown tummy and dark
brown on her back and a little smudge been licked of the back just like a chocolate biscuit. She is friends with Fluffy. I
like getting her treats that she shares with Fluffy. When it is really sunny she likes to sit in the shade. She likes to run
about when a cloth covers the run. I play hide and seek with her when I bring her into the house. She is cute and crazy! |
Belinda Mendela Mandala is my pet Turtle
She is 6 inches long. I have had her for 3 years. When I first got her she was the size of a fifty cent coin. She has a
tank in my room she will be getting a new tank soon. I feed her dried krill, shrimp and turtle pellets. I feed her twice a
day. |
